My Commercial

My Commercial  My group and I have completed our music video! This was a long process and I have learned many new skills throughout filming and editing. I have learned how to implement different angles and what these angles portray to an audience. I have also learned how to edit clips together to create split screens, which is something I have never done before! I had a lot of fun filming with my group and enjoyed creating a music video with them. I have learned how to work with people you may not always agree with, and how to delegate work fairly. If I could give advice to my past self, I would remind myself to plan better so that I have an outline to lookout while filming. It would have been easier to fit. If my group and I had a set plan for how many scenes we would film each day and the estimated time it would take. Without a schedule there was some struggle with staying on task. But in the end we were able to complete our filming and learn to go with the flow. Overall, I had a wo

Editing Blog: Editing The Music Video

Today Allison and I edited together the music video! This was the final step to our music video process and marked an end to all of the work we had done. We used the app Imovie to put all of the scenes together, we did this in class and used Allison’s phone. We had previously recorded all of the clips on Allison’s phone so this was the most convenient option. I began adding the scenes to the app to have an outline of our video. Allison helped me crop the clips so that they would line up with the music perfectly. It was challenging making all the clips match up with the music perfectly and I did have some frustrations along the way. For some scenes I had trouble matching the lip syncing, but after a few tries I was able to make it look flawless! Creating a split screen for the phone call scene seemed impossible, but with some research and the help of my group mates I was able to create a split screen! Allison gave me many suggestions while editing and I greatly appreciated her help thr

Filming Blog: Our Last Day Of Filming

The third day of filming was the last day for my group and I to complete the music video. The last few scenes needed to be shot at night so we devised a plan to meet at sundown. Allison came and picked me up, then we drove to Darrow’s. We had planned on filming at Allison’s house again, but it seemed easier to just stay at Darrow’s. Before filming we had to go to publix to buy a prop. We picked out some flowers that Darrow would be giving Allison in the video. We began filming the first scene which is a close up of a phone with the text saying that Darrow’s character had arrived to pick up Allison’s character. This scene was easy for Ella and I to film because all she had to do was hold the phone while I filmed the closeup. The next scene was slightly more difficult. It was going to be Darrow’s character arriving at the door with the prop flowers, the group had a small disagreement about what angle would be best for this shot. Fortunately we quickly decided to film two different shots

Filming Blog: Filming For Real This Time

After the unfortunate misuse of time the other day, our group decided that we needed to stay on track. We decided to pick a meeting spot for after school so that we would not waste time. This time when the bell rang there was no issue with finding any group members. Darrow and I rode with Allison and we stopped to get food on the way. It is important that we don't work on empty stomach, because we might become hangry and that could hinder the process. After eating we headed to Allison's. Luckily the puppies were no longer staying there, keeping us free of distractions. This was unfortunate for me though because I was really hoping to see them. Darrow and Allison went and put on their cowboy and cowgirl costumes that they had picked out prior. We headed outside to Allison's drive way and Darrow got in the drivers seat. The first scene was supposed to be Darrow driving to pick up Allison. I positioned the shot for a wide shot angle in order to show the whole setting. This sc

Filming Blog: Allison's House

The beginning of filming was a long process, it was a lot more chaotic than anticipated. Our plan was to film after school on Monday, and to go record at Allison's house. The bell rang for school to be dismissed and me, Allison and Ella found each other immediately. We had a little trouble however, finding Darrow. Allison sent him a text, and we all tried to call him. We would have filmed without him, but we needed him because he is one of the main characters. After about 20 minutes Darrow picked up the phone and informed us that he was at home and had just woken up. He said he was sorry for missing our calls, and making us feel stressed. A little while later Allison and I drove to Darrow's house to pick him up. At that moment we then went into his house and helped him pick out an appropriate "cowboy" outfit to match the persona he is playing. After picking his outfit we headed back to Allison's house to begin filming. Upon arrival, our whole team became distracte
