The designers and studios represented are more diverse than in 2020, with first-time nominees Steve Small of Studio AKA, Efrain Montanez of King and Country, John LePore and Doug Appleton of Perception, and Berlin-based filmmaker and designer Saskia Marka among them. The graphic or film title "the design throughout cinema history" describes the past 100 years of film title design in the article. The title is supposed to raise audience exp

Title Research: Bronx Tale

Image
-The title displayed is "A Bronx Tale" and in the opening scene we see these words displayed in a fun old times classical font that is colored white and green. The background of this title scene is a street/alley where we see people hanging out and dancing. There is also a classic looking car that car be seen parked on the road.  -The images prioritized in the opening scene are the streets and city mainly showcasing where the movie is taking place. We see a pan shot of the city lights and buildings indicating they are in a big city. We also can hear the narrator speaking, and we can assume that he is the main character. We see many transitions showcasing the different parts of the city including the streets with cars along with pizza shops and people hanging out around shops.  -These images connote that they live in a typical city but there is much more going on, the mafia. We see different parts of the dim cobblestone streets and shops and the narrator zooms into a group of

Title Research: Irishman

Image
-In the opening sequence the very first title displayed is "The Irishman" written in bold and capital letters. This title appears on a pitch black screen in bright white bold lettering.  -In the beginning we see images such as dark hallways and eerie walls of a nursing home. Then there is a flashback where we see the main character at a home using a weapon to murder someone, he then puts on his jewelry. These images are prioritized because they represent the gangster mafia life. We see close up of the weapon being drawn, along with the blood splattering. We also see a close up shot of the expensive looking watches and rings that the perpetrator goes to put on.  -These images carry a "gangster" connotation and a somewhat elite or upperclass one swell. We see weapons and gun in crime movies which is where we can find the "gangster" conventions. There are also prioritized scenes of expensive jewelry to indicate that they are living a lavish lifestyle.  -This

Genre Research: West Side Story

Image
Common camera angles include close up shots, establishing shots and low angle shots. Close up shots were used to show the main characters and the emotions displayed on their faces. Establishing shots were used to show the setting of scenes as they would change. And low angles shots were prevalent when showing the male characters indicating superiority. We plan to include all of these types of shots in our video to make it more like a real movie.  Diegetic sound is heard throughout the movie indicating the business of the world around them. We plan to use this type of sound in our video as well, ranging from the sounds of cars driving by, to birds chirping, to people talking in the background. This will help our video to seem as if it was filmed in real time similar to the West Side Story movie.  Some conventions of the genre that our group chose to base our final task on are the angles as stated above, establishing shots, low angles, and closeups, the diegetic sound, as well as, light

Genre Research: Irishman

Image
This genre is a combination of Crime and Romance, two genres that we hope to tackle in our film. We plan and using similar angles found in both genres. For example low angle shots and high angle shots to show dominance's submissiveness, as seen in many crime movies. We will also use close up shots to show kissing scenes, commonly used in romantic films. Conventions found in these genres can include the damsel in distress, which is when a woman is treated as someone who is weaker na need helps. For our mafia love story we will be breaking these conventions and instead we will have a powerful and dominant women who will not be a damsel. Many movies broadcast a male lead actor and portray them as a knight in shining armor, however our group would like to o things differently. We believe that we can broadcast a strong female lead in order to break the typical societal norms, and fight for feminism.  Some elements and conventions that we enjoyed and plan to take apply our film are the

-This movie is a thriller/romance movie. It related to my film because our movie is based on mafia movie with romance and thriller. In the deadly world of the Philadelphia mafia. A story of family, friendships, and betrayal unfolds. In the deadly world of the Philadelphia mafia, a story of family, friendships, and betrayal unfolds. In the deadly world of the Philadelphia mafia, a story of family, friendships, and betrayal unfolds. I Love mafia movies and this was a good one. Including suspense, action and more. This movie appealed to me because of my project. I am trying to learn more about mafia. Not just mafia but movies in general. while I was watching this movie I took notes on what I liked and what I didn't like. For what I liked there was a lot. There was suspense in which it felt like a mystery. It had me at the edge of my seat. I also liked the romance because is correlated to my mafia movie. I know that my mafia movie is only 3 minutes. But its gonna be the best 3 minute

Genre Research: Suspense

Image
Camera movements are crucial in creating suspense. In suspense, tilt is a crucial camera movement. It depicts the film's emotions by evoking a wondering emotion on the screen. This helps the spectator to experience the film's and characters' suspense. Zooming in is another camera action employed in suspense films. This depicts a character's feelings, which might keep the audience guessing. In a suspense thriller, lighting is extremely crucial. Low-key lighting produces a gloomy atmosphere that may make the audience nervous about what may come next. Over the shoulder and close-up shots are common suspense camera angles. The over-the-shoulder angle adds tension to the film and makes the spectator aware of what's going on.. This will heighten the film's suspense for the audience. Close-up shots reveal all of the characters' feelings, making the audience more concerned about what might happen. Emotions, anxiety, conflict, and high stakes are all characteristics

Genre Research: Action

Image
For action, common angles for action include aerial shot, close up, long shot, and high angle. Common mis-en-scene for action include: the protagonist's costumes tend to follow suits (sometimes include capes) and "regular" clothing they wear when they are just living their normal lives and not fighting crime; while, the damsel in distress tends to wear light and flowy costumes to represent innocence and love. Lighting includes mainly natural as most action will occur outdoors rather than in- there are some special cases, such as when shown the villain's story, where there is low-key lighting used instead; actors are focused around the plot but generally include the male protagonist, male helper/ donor, female accomplice/ lover, evil villain, and supporting characters; makeup tends to be more emphasized on the protagonist/ villain and other makeup tends to include fake bruising/ blood on the other characters; props include vehicles (race cars/ motorcycles), weapons (k

Genre Decision

Image
Our group has decided to do a action/romance genre. We have decided to combine both of these genres in order to get the best result. We chose action because it will be entertaining and will test out filming abilities. Action movies include many zooms, panning shots, and wide shots. We will have the chance to use these different types of shots to increase the action and suspense in our movie. This will be a new way of filming and it will be be difficult to hold the camera right and have good timing, but it will be a great achievement in the end.We have also included romance in our movie because we believe it will add to the storyline. We cannot fully cover action, with explosions, fire and gunshots, so it will be vital that we have some excitement from the romance. The romance drama will include many close up shots, these will be easy to film and will allow us to capture the actors emotions. Action is supposed to be exciting, and my group will be able to do this. We will film our cars

Our Pitches!

Image
Pitch 1 Mafia rivals fall in love despite the fast that they aren’t supposed to be together. Their reality takes them though the action filled struggles between love and family. Our group is interested in making a mafia a love story because we think it’s a unique storyline that will be fun to film. It will be challenging because approximated will be BB guns and other hard objects that will add to the storyline. Costumes will be easy for example black dresses, black suits and other formal attire. This theme is very exciting it is something our whole group finds interesting. This idea is practical for our skill set and accessibility. Pitch 2 A family trip brings the Smiths to Daytona Beach, little did they know a fun surf trip will turn into a bloodbath. Our second option was a family surf trip gone wrong. This would involve a shark attack at the beach. No this would be fun to film creating a shark attack would be very hard. We would need to have a fake shark and a bloody shark bites. Th
