My group is doing a Jan-sport commercial. In these types of commercials the audience will typically see students at school doing normal activities such as walking to class and talking to friends.

  • The actors will wear active clothes or comfortable school appropriate clothes such as jeans, t-shirts, shorts, and shoes like vans or converse. This will present the setting as a regular day at school.
  • Props include Jan-sport backpacks, water bottle, laptop, notebooks, and folders.
  • Their appearance should be happy and cheerful, smiling and talking with friends at school, as well as running and jumping around showing the durability of the product.
  • Score- upbeat, fast-paced music and sound effects to show the cheerful mood throughout the commercial, although music will come to a stop during the necessary scenes for added dramatic effect.
  1. Conventions and codes in Jan-sport include the classic Jan-sport logo followed by the iconic "We got your back" slogan. This slogan emphasizes the idea that this backpack is a dependable product that can bring people together.
  2. In the commercial the camera will almost always be pointed at the Jan-sport logo to indicate to the audience that this is a Jan-sport commercial without directly stating the name. Except for the scene where the actor is frustrated with his non Jan-sport, this will show the superiority of the Jan-sport brand backpack.
  3. The commercial will include pathos by showing that Jan-sport can unite students as one. By showing the disparity of the actor without the Jan-sport compared to his pure joy after receiving one, the commercial will make the audience feel as if Jan-sport really does "Got your back".
