AICE Media Studies About My Group


For the first project in this class, I have chosen a good friend of mine to be my partner. My partner's name is Allison Nordyke and I chose her for a wide variety of reasons. First off, she is a reliable friend. Whether it is a ride to school or helping with my homework she is always there. I find that this quality is crucial when it comes to group projects. If you don't have a reliable team, you will likely end up doing all of the work yourself, feeling overwhelmed and stressed. Allison is also a good student who turns in her work on time if not early. This is good for our team because I tend to procrastinate, and she will likely keep me on my game. We also have known each other since 7th grade and have worked on many projects together, so I know what to expect. Allison and I tend to agree on things, and if not, we are both mature enough to come to a mutual agreement that benefits both of us. Allison may not be the most creative partner there is, but she is someone who can clearly voice their opinion. I believe we will work well together in this situation, as I can develop her ideas into bigger more intricate scenes.  Allison is a very outgoing person who will be great on camera. She has a loud and bubbly personality. However, I am shyer and better behind the camera during the filming. This is why we will work well together. I enjoy creating stories and mapping out scenes in my head or on paper, while she finds it easier to act them out physically. Together we can create great presentations by combining our strengths. Allison and I plan on dividing the task we need to accomplish according to what we do best rather than 50-50. While it may seem odd for one person to do more work than another, the truth of the matter is that the difficulty of the work can be different depending on you or your partner's strengths. My hope is for us to work harmoniously and to better each other’s ideas so that we can be the best we can be.

Editing Blog: Editing The Music Video

 Today Allison and I edited together the music video! This was the final step to our music video process and marked an end to all of the work we had done. We used the app Imovie to put all of the scenes together, we did this in class and used Allison’s phone. We had previously recorded all of the clips on Allison’s phone so this was the most convenient option. I began adding the scenes to the app to have an outline of our video. Allison helped me crop the clips so that they would line up with the music perfectly. It was challenging making all the clips match up with the music perfectly and I did have some frustrations along the way. For some scenes I had trouble matching the lip syncing, but after a few tries I was able to make it look flawless! Creating a split screen for the phone call scene seemed impossible, but with some research and the help of my group mates I was able to create a split screen! Introducing My Group Mates!

 My group is very similar to the group I had for my previous music video, although there are some changes. We decided to add a new member to the group from a different class period, her name is Jade. My group now consists of me my good friend Allison, Darrow, and Jade. Allison and I have been friends since middle school and have worked together on many projects and assignments. On our last project Allison was very helpful and took on a lot of the responsibility she picked upon Darrow a few times and allowed us to film at her house. Without her we who knows what we would've done. Allison also helped me a lot when it came to filming, she gave me many ideas without forcing them upon me. Lets Get Filming!

 Today we got lots of filming done! Yesterday was not as accomplished as we spent a lot of time trying to figure out the right place to film. But today we were able to all meet at one place at the same time ready to film. All of the actors quickly got dressed and I went to set up props again. Darrow's parents were not home this day so I had to set up the props by my lonesome without his Moms help. Luckily everything still looked perfect! Once everyone was dressed we had to continue with the scenes. I had the storyboard out and placed the actors where they needed to be. With the help of my friend Eva I would position the actors and she would look through the camera telling me left, right, forward, back, to get the perfect shot.
